Free Family History Talk
Join the experts for a free Family History Talk at Wanaka Library on 3 December.
We have been lucky enough for Wanaka to be included in a tour of the South Island by Family History experts – Jan Gow (A professional genealogist, past president and treasurer of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists & Tour Leader for Hooked on Genealogy (H.O.G Tours to Salt Lake City) and Mike Higgins (Area Family History Manager for FamilySearch International) Wanaka Genealogy Group will host this free talk, which is open to absolutely everyone, starting at 1.00pm until 4.30pm in Wanaka Library on Monday 3 December 2018.
Have you ever used the free genealogy website: https://www.familysearch.org?
Mike will be talking about Familysearch - An Update & Review (Digitized Record Collections; New ways to view your ancestors’ lives and information, including maps and timelines amongst other things).
Jan will be talking about “Places” entitled “You need a cake tin!” We know to concentrate on the “Who” of our research but the “Where” is just as important. Find out about programs that can help you collect and collate information about places. Maps, data, photographs, records all in one place!
It will conclude with a practical demonstration by Jan who will go online to demonstrate the features
mentioned in the lecture. Buy a raffle ticket with great prizes!
We do need to know how many people are coming as seating is limited. Please book your place: Phone/text
